churches

God's Abundant Gifts....this is a photo challenge of churches...i love old churches. here are a few i've collected.

this is a replica of the tabernacle of the Old Testament period....taken this summer on a tour of the Holy Land in eureka springs, ak, on the grounds of the Great Passion Play.

an old church in germany....i wish i could remember how old. :)

st louis cathedral on jackson square in new orleans...i wonder how it fares today after hurricane katrina....

i liked this old quaint church in nw georgia

a pretty wedding chapel in the great smoky mountains

when we were in the san diego area a couple of years ago, we passed this beautiful church several times. it was just off the interstate. i thought 'ethereral' every time i saw it...especially at night when it was all lit up. i had to snap quickly as we drove by...after several attempts, i finally captured a shot i liked.

I love old churches too Gina and I'm very happy to tell you that St Louis cathedral fared very well. I went in there last year and it's fine! Love all your photos, especially the ethereal one! Jeannette xx

I love looking and taking photos of old buildings, be it churches, mosques or just office buildings. It's the history behind them that really intrigue me.

Welcome to GAG. I so glad you jumped right in. I posted mine on my blog, too, in addition to my post at GAG. I was so excited, I couldn't help myself.

that church in San Diego is a Mormon temple; can you see the angel on one of the steeples? I can't remember the name of it but all of them have one; we drive by it a lot on our way to visit my hubby's family down in the San Diego area

I like your church pictures! all very unique!

This is a wonderful variety of structures with such uniqueness to each style. I have often thought of this idea for a post. Lovely presentation!

Yup...another thing we have in common...seems many agree. Old churches make for some great photos. You've proven that one!

These pics are spectacular. I was taken aback at the first one until I read your explanation.

The one is San Diego is just majestic, I can't imagine it lit up at night. Awesome.

Great photos! I love the architectural details of old churches. All of the photographs are wonderful, but I particularly love the last shot. I'm still dreaming of the day when you have a showing at a gallery of your photographs. You are an artiste.
